Magazines
I always wanted to illustrate magazine covers. It seemed the perfect modern art gallery, transient, but global.
here are a few of the various titles I’ve worked on over the last few years.
Graphic design
I trained in graphics design and specialised in illustration.
My first ever commissions were graphic design however and I still always enjoy a design job when it arrives to break up the more regular illustration work.
I’ve been lucky enough to work for clients all over the world, both small and large. Just recently I seem to have attracted the attention of a few breweries to design for.
I recently created a brand new dedicated Hot Frog Brew Blog which showcases a bigger selection of this work.
I’ve also worked on Turkish Delight packaging for a client in Bodrum, a logo for an international shipping union in Switzerland and a frog-loving lawyer who resides in Hawaii.
Cards & posters
Some of my very first commissions were for greetings cards and posters.
For the likes of Athena, Scandecor, Verkerke and hallmark I would ply my airbrush skills and create sets of birthday cards and fun posters that i’ve subsequently seen decorating the walls of sets on TV and film.
Advertising
Illustration commissioned for various advertising campaigns.
These feature all aspects from print to TV and web campaigns.
Books for children
My abiding passion and driving ambition since I was first taken to the children’s library by a supply teacher at Art College.
I have studied children’s picture books, reviewed them for a few local journals. I’ve illustrated reference books and educational books and even illustrated and designed a set of 52 mini picture books.

PUBLISHING PORTFOLIO
Just recently I’ve illustrated picture books for other authors and currently have 3 picture book apps available on the Apple iTunes store, but, I am still chasing that all elusive first, self written picture book deal.
STOP PRESS
Out in 2015 are 2 novelty picture books that I illustrated for Cheeky Monkey publishing. I shall be posting artwork very shortly.
Games work
I remember being thrilled to receive my first commission to illustrate a children’s game.
That was way back when, and I think the first ever game was Hotel Las Vegas!
What a debut game. It featured the usual game board, wonderfully detailed, the game box and literally 100′s of inner bits and pieces, fold-out, pop-up hotels, cash design, game pieces etc etc.
Thanks to Mel at Optical Design in London for that wonderful job.
I now have over 40 games to my name and working on 2 more as I speak/type.
Characters
I’m not exactly sure how or when I fell into character creation.
Years back I used to balk at character drawing and found myself quite clumsy at sketching out figures and poses. But with practice, reading lots of interviews with master character designers and studying their techniques, little by little I developed a fluency and now they seem to be one of the main stays of my freelance work.
I’m particularly pleased with the set I created for Razamatazz Magic, children’s entertainers – hi Andy and Sue – the puppy dog and kitten are for them, as are the Santa and Rodney Rabbit.
I’ve produced Turkeys for Toblerone and Pandas for Panda Pops and filled a whole living room with little bunnies, offspring of their Airwick rabbit mum.
Food & drink
I’ve been specialising in quality food illustration for many years now, and have been providing top notch artwork for clients as diverse as Nestlé, Cadbury, BHS, Asda, Kinder Eggs, Toblerone and Kelly’s Ice Cream.
I probably could almost have made a living on the depiction of fruit alone, such is the demand for luscious oranges, crisp green apples or fat juicy strawberries.
